Serbia

Serbia is a country located in Southeastern Europe, member country of former Yugoslavia. Since 2006, when Montenegro became independent, Serbia is a sovereign state. Serbia borders Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

Serbia is situated in Southeastern Europe. After an independence referendum, Montenegro became an independent state and the Serbia and Montenegro state union ceased to exist on 5th June 2006, when Serbia declared independence as well and became the successor of the former state. From its geographical position, Serbia is the main transit state of the Balkans. Its roads connect Western and Central Europe with Greece and Turkey. In the cross direction, the roads provide transport connections from Bulgaria towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.


Weather

The climate of the country is continental in the north region, and moderately continental in the central and southern region. In the north, the average annual temperature is around 10°C – 11°C, in summer  20°C, in winter around 0°C.


The best time to visit

The best time for a motorcycle tour to Serbia is from late April till the first half of October. The best time to visit the mountainous regions is from May till late September.


Roads and Riding

The quality of the road network in Serbia is good. The main roads are well-maintained; however, there is quite heavy traffic on some parts of them. The quality of the side roads is changeable, so it can occur that we come across side roads of rather poor quality.
